Introduction and a Question Can't Post

Hello. I'm new to the P&W society online and this is my first post. I just subscribed to the magazine this year and love it. I hope to learn a lot from my fellow writers out there. I love to write poetry and would like to write short stories. My question is in regards to the use of a pen name. I'd like to use one to keep my writing separate from my regular job and family. I am looking into opening a mailbox so mail is not sent to my home (I live at home with my parents). Can I put my pen name on the mailing address instead of my real name? Thank you very much for any responses or advice.

The only problem you're likely to encounter is in cashing checks (if you are so fortunate) that are made out to a name other than your own. Ask someone at your bank about how to set up a business account in another name. In some states it's very simple, but in others you have to do some paperwork.

And welcome to the Speakeasy!
