New to PW and speakeasy community Can't Post

I'm new to the PW community and speakeasy community and I wanted to add an "avatar" but was having difficulty (i made sure it was in the correct ratio of 85 x 85 and less than 30k ). I dont know if anyone else had that issue?

As way of introduction, I create a comic strip called JURASCALS about a rascally Jurassic dinosaur for a newspaper in central new york and as the story I was doing had a "literary" turn (characters travel to Poemia NY to visit different poets like Whitman, Dickinson, Longfellow, etc), I found my way here and was hooked so I joined.

Any help on the avatar thing would be great!

I'm going to try to post an "image" in this thread with this advanced editor but I dont know if it will take so apologies if it does not!

Welcome, J. Timothy! (Quirk, as it happens, is the name of one of my favorite literary characters, the protagonist of Benjamin Black's mysteries. His first name is rarely, if ever, mentioned.)

I have solved the problem of the avatar by shrinking down a picture (I use Irfanview for this) and seeing if the Speakeasy will accept it. If not, I shrink it some more. Not the most elegant solution, but I don't change it often.

Thank you Pongo! I will try it!

(I dont know any literary characters with Pongo to match your Quirk reference, but my favorite comic strip of all time was Pogo which took place in the Okefenokee Swamp so I hope that qualifies!)

All the best!

Joe

PS: What is the coolest thing about this Speakeasy/PW for you that a newbie such as myself may have missed? -I checked out the literary mags/small press listings -that was awesome!

I did take my Speakeasy name from a literary figure, in fact. Pongo Twistleton is the nephew of Uncle Fred, the Earl of Ickenham, who in turn is the protagonist of several novels by P. G. Wodehouse. Pongo is a friend of Bertie Wooster, or at least a member of the same club, the Drones.

It's hard to say what's the coolest thing about the Speakeasy. For me it's the community rather than any one part of the site.

Nicely done! I'm a fan of Jeeves and Wooster, specifically the Fry and Laurie version on BBC. I will attempt the recommendations to create the "avatar but so far-i've got a Jpeg with that's even as small as 15kg and 85 x 85 and still no dice!

Calling for poetry submissions!

A new blogzine, Brevity Poetry Review, is getting underway. In this exciting time, I welcome all poets to submit 3-5 of their best poems for consideration. Here are the guidelines: http://brevitypoetryreview.blogspot.com/p/submissions.html

Best of luck!

Amy, you've posted the same message three times. That's about enough to trigger a lot of people's spam response. I suggest you find an appropriate place to post a single message in the future.
