It's good to be here! Can't Post

I've been working in a library, where I was recently introduced to P&W. I'm more than excited to be part of this online commmunity!

About me?
My name's Sterling (since you probably won't figure that out by reading my username).
Age 22.
Actual profession: marine biologist (attending grad school this summer at UAF).
Been writing since I was... 5?
Never published, yet.
Most writing is fantasy/sci-fi, but I also do poetry and some non-fiction when the inspiration seizes me.

Writing skills?
Strengths: imagery/lyricism (subtle), dialogue, general imagination/originality
Weaknesses: character personality/individualism, being overwhelmed by too many ideas

Education?
1 creative writing class and 2 lit classes as an undergrad.

Looking forward to "meeting" all of you! Best of luck to each.

Sterling

Hello, Sterling, and everyone else.

I am also absolutely new here. And also work in a library. I'm working towards my MA but have temporarily quit school (I work for the university so my tuition is free, so nothing lost) because I just can't hack it right now. I'm just not in it for the right reasons anymore.

I've been published four times now in various print and online journals and desperately grasping for that magic number five. I write primarily fiction (not flash, really), I guess you could say in the traditional literary style. I adore Salinger and Carver (yeah, who doesn't) and love to write dialogue and shaky little stories about losers and weirdos. Yeah, who doesn't?

P&W has really helped me scope out a lot of publishing opportunities. And I figured it might be nice to have "writer talk" with other people in the same boat--just scrabbling to get their names out there, hanging onto small successes and enjoying the nightmare.

So, yeah. Hello!
