Hi Everyone. I would like to hear from people who have published their novel with a small publisher if anything was done to promote book sales. Do you need a literary agent to help promote and guide your career if you want to make a living out of writing?

If you want to make a living from writing you need a fairy godmother more than an agent. But this is better discussed below, where I see you've also opened a topic.
