taking the plunge Can't Post

Hey - my name is jay I'M 50 yrs old ive been writing poetry basically since I was 19.Ive got no college backbround but ive read all of hemmingway -william kennedy -carl sandburg and many others.I find that much of music is also poetry.Anyhow I'm in the process of finishing a book of poetry - its taken a long time to do since I had to support my family -but I'm almost done. But I'm feeling kind of shy about it -that is telling people about it -and doing possible readings if anybody will have me.I plan on doing self publishing -which I would appreciate feedback on.Also there are some controversal poems in my book which I'm afraid would upset the establishment be they liberal or conservative.I write because I have something to say not just to see fluff on paper. It would be nice to correspond with another poet male or female. My dad was from south carolina my mom connecticut -so growing up it was like gone with the wind meets the godfather- I look forward to your words--jay
