Hello, everyone. I've been off and on this board for several years but never formally introduced myself, so I guess now's as good a time as any! I'm an editor, writer, and mother of two darling but very active children (dare I say "energizer bunny" active?)... I find my time for writing is increasingly limited these days and look forward to hearing from anyone who can give advice/support etc. on how to find balance as both writer and parent -- seems to me those two roles are like the opposite ends of a seesaw... when you're giving weight and attention to one, you're sending the other flying up into the air....
I write fiction -- short stories mostly. I've also written a few screenplays. I've never thought of myself as a funny person, but a lot of my writing turns out to be comedic. Don't know why.
I read a lot, sporadically and eclectically. I'm not exactly sure where I get the time to do it. Books sitting next to my bed include Outliers (Malcom Gladwell), The Tortilla Curtain (Boyle), Dickens, Austen, etc...
Athough I didn't intend for this post to turn into a solicitation, I'm currently looking for a writing group and/or online writing partner who'd be willing to exchange work. (My stories, sadly enough, need much constructive criticism.) If you have stories that are also sorely in need of repair, don't hesitate to PM me. I just need a second pair of eyes other than my husband's. My writing group disbanded last year, and it's been a rough road since then. :)
