Line Spacing for Posts	Can't Post

I have no idea why, but when I try to put a line space in a post, I can no longer do so.
To wit, I inserted a line space between this sentence and the preceding one, but then when I preview or post the message, the line space is gone.
What's happening here? It's a new development for me on the Speakeasy.

My spacing works fine...

but the problem of posts being marked "unread" after being read is back, after a temporary and welcome hiatus.

Maida, what browser do you use?

Safari 5.
(I am so ignorant I had to google "What is a browser?" Then I watched a delightful and clear one-minute cartoon about browsers. "First, let me explain by telling you what a browser is not . . ." the illuminating voiceover said.)
I think this problem is happening on both of my computers. Desk and lap. I've been using the same browser for a long time on both.

preview says this doesn't work for me either.
that means it isn't you, it is safari/pw.
ps... quite endearing that you didn't know what a browser was ;)

FWIW -- my new laptop running Windows 7 takes me to the first page of a thread, any thread, instead of directly to the first unread/new post, as my old laptop running Vista does. Oddly enough, the itty bitty netbook, also using Windows 7, works the way I think it should. you just get so used to a particular look and feel.

These, most likely, are all browser-related, even the read/unread issue. The only change to the Speakeasy lately was a tweak to the browser detection function. It was misidentifying Chrome and not allowing the Advanced Editor. I fixed it.
Safari, for what it's worth, causes me so many problems on so many sites I had to stop using it for anything.
The reason I think the read/unread issue could be browser related is that the whole process of keeping track of each user's list is deceptively complex--at least the Speakeasy's code for doing it is. It's all tied in with user sessions, so at one point in the process there's a cookie involved.
The only time I've personally had it lose track of read/unread is when I've been away from the forum for an extended period of time. That leads me to believe that some particular set of circumstances could make it appear that a user has been away when that isn't truly the case.
Eventually, I'll track it down and fix it. I just haven't been able to find it yet.
