Hello, I'm Rowan. Have posted a couple of times here before introducing myself...I hope that wasn't rude of me. I'm generally shy of talking to strangers on the internet, but it's nice to see a community of writers interacting and I'm glad to be a part of it! I currently live in New Orleans and write fiction, nonfiction, and poetry.

Hi everyone! I just bought my first issues of Poets & Writers last night and am looking forward to reading them. I'm excited to have found these boards, as well.

My name is Brianna and I currently live in Las Vegas. It's not as glamorous as it sounds and I definitely don't love it, but I'm making the most of my situation.

As for my writing life, I freelance for a local monthly and am in the midst of editing my first novel (which I wrote during NaNoWriMo '10). I also write short stories and can be found blogging at girlseeksplace.wordpress.com. I hope you'll check out my blog and tell me what you think.

When I'm not writing, I can be found with my nose in a book or working on a craft project (I scrapbook and embroider). I'm excited to dig around the boards and get to know everyone. Happy Saturday!

Hi I'm a new member. As far as writing goes it does travel way back to a time when I was little about 6 or 7. Little stories of a few sentences at that time; none of which was kept. As I grew older I continued to write however life's circumstances have caused them to be no more. About the time I married in 1972 there was an awakening and when our child was born I wrote a piece of poetic prose for my husband and called it ' A Single Rose' and then when our child was 2yrs of age I wrote another piece called 'Conception' and it wasn't till the 1980's that I began to write again and quite a lot. There was another lull and than in the 90's some and then in this decade flowing faster to a collection of about 34 and counting.

My work is copyrighted and under a title. Just now need to publish. When I first sent out the application to copyright one would have thought that I looked like I was beginning the process of giving a part of myself away.

As I write this my hands are shaking over the keys. Guess I'm a tad nervous.

I do look forward to the journey ahead and communicating and sharing with you along our shared journeys.

Howdy. I already posted a separate, brief intro message back on the 29th--" hearty salutations"--and then just now noticed this more generic, sticky thread. Okay, I won't bother you with the same stuff posted on my earlier intro. Just thought "all the action" is over here, perhaps (so to speak)? This site sure seems pretty quiet, all things considered, no? I feel as though I should be yelling, in order to wake everyone up!

We have our rhythms. Sometimes it's slow for a while, and then it livens up. I don't see anything wrong with that.

If you want to jazz it up, instead of yelling, post a comment that we will all want to comment on (rather than argue with). We prefer discussion to shouting.

You can if you use a valid URL. You tried to use:

The easiest way to grab a link to a specific post (and its thread) is to get it from the link that reads "Shortcut" in the box where the post information is.

Hello, everyone. My name's Celena. I just started this creative writing about 2 months ago and am enjoying myself sooo much. I have been more into formal letter writing in the past. But, I'm a single mom of 6 kids and they are what I typically write about. Because it's crazy stuff! I would love to find out how to post some of my "poetry" and get the chance to find out what people think and get some critique.

Writing helps me deal with everything. Seeing your life in writing, and an honest look at your feelings...well, there's no better therapy!

Hi, all.

I'm definitely new to the Speakeasy and am still finding my way. I'm a early thirties-ish new mom who's been telling stories and lies since I could talk. I earned a BA in English and Speech & Communications Studies, a MA in English, and I'm about to embark on the MFA in Writing adventure. I've been accepted to several schools and am trying to decide, which is a wonderful and frustrating thing.

I've been a lifeguard, backpacking guide and newspaper reporter. Currently I teach English as an adjunct instructor at a small, liberal arts college in N.C. My creative work has appeared in South Loop Review, the Santa Fe Writer's Project, Wilderness House Literary Review, and regional magazines and newspapers. I've written an historical novel and was able to acquire an agent, though he hasn't found a publisher (and it's been a few years). I've thoroughly enjoyed writing residencies at the Vermont Studio Center and the Montana Artists Refuge, and I'd love to do more... though with a toddler, my writer's life has certainly changed.

I'm hopeful about being a writer, and I've got a lot to learn.

hello everyone, the name is Ox. i'm new to speak easy but not new to the world of poetry. i've been writting since i was 6 though started taking it serious around 20 (im 26 now). since then i've done openmic and spoken word events and am working really hard on completing my book/spoken word album. just restarted my blog (check my pro for the link). Have some major set backs that held me from pursuing my writting career the way i've wanted to but i'm in a better place now and am ready to get back to where i was and surpass that. hopefully you guys can help me.... looking forward to making alot of great new friends here... :)
