does anyone know the extent to which unlv's study abroad option is funded?
(based on the website, it sounds like not much...)

Any other UNLV applicants out there? I feel lonely! No one talks about UNLV over on the MFA blog...

I emailed the assistant to the program coordinator a few minutes ago to see if I can get any info about notification times and such...

Anyone else loving UNLV as much as I am???

I applied to UNLV and was surprised I haven't seen more about it here. I think the program is interesting and innovative and it's one of the top choices for me. Since the deadline was so late, I've been wondering how long it will take to hear from them.

I applied to UNLV and it is also one of my top choices. They normally notify in late March but someone on the MFA Blog suggested they received a lot of applications and may not have news until early April. It's a long wait on this one, I'm afraid!

I applied to UNLV last year and reapplied this year as it is definitely my top choice for the reasons already mentioned here. If I recall correctly, I had resigned myself to the idea they had lost my application by the time I heard back. I definitely didn't hear anything until some time in April. Maybe acceptances come earlier though?

I got my acceptance call for fiction at UNLV yesterday from Richard Wiley. He told me they make their phone calls on a rolling basis (not based on priority or position) and he does the fiction calls and Douglas Unger is doing poetry. He also said that he is spacing out his phone calls and does 1 in a day to ensure that he is focused and available just for that student in terms of questions and discussion. From what I can tell, I think they started their phone calls about a week ago. He says they usually have 6 spots for fiction and 6 for poetry, though they are considering going to 5 spots for each genre, to ensure adequate funding for all their admits. Hope that helps!
