Greetings. Just joined (last night). Still trying to get a feel for this site. I'm a former university professor (and occasional univ. administrator)--25 years in that rapidly-devolving career--and now I'm moving on to other things, which includes writing and--sometime next month--"completing" a draft of my first novel.
Just a couple of questions. Is this site always as quiet as it seems to be--i.e., many members but few active ones--or have I just popped in during a slow period?
Also, I see that I'm listed as a "new user" (somewhere?), but I also see others listed as "user" (hmm, this is starting to sound a bit like rehab!), "novice," "veteran," "moderator" and clearly there must be additional tiers or categories of membership. Is there a sticky or thread somewhere that I cannot locate that discusses the hierarchy and all the specifics? Just want to make sure in advance how important the toes I'm stepping on truly are!
Thanks in advance. I'm looking forward to "meeting" you.
Life has an expiration date--enjoy it now!
