Hi Everyone!
I’m Barbara and a longtime subscriber to P&W, yet just found my way here after finishing the Nov/Dec edition and seeing the great last page write-up. Oye, not sure what rock I’ve been hiding under. Now that I’m here, I love it. Did a bit of surfing about and reading some archived material yesterday – what a fantastic wealth of knowledge and group of writers!
I’m a writer in Ohio and have been blessed over this year to reconnect with my writing craft and get my “mojo” back. I started writing poetry as a kid (I’ll always think of it as my first love) and moved on to short fiction once I hit college. I’ve dabbled in essay, but find that short story is where my main focus is now.
One of my goals for 2011 is to get myself into a more organized gear and submit more for publication (and the collection of rejection slips that will follow). I’ve already read some great tips here on the tracking and steady volume people circulate. I’m also looking for new summer writing conf options. I’ve attended the Antioch Writers’ Workshop for the past two years and am looking to branch out a bit. So far, I’m checking out Kenyon, Chautauqua (think it is a long weekend) and Gettysburg from word of mouth recommendations.
