Hello, everyone. My name is Jackie and I am a writer. A brief autobiography: As a youngster, I always loved the written word. I constantly wrote poems, songs, stories, etc. and I received accolades. In my 20s, I wrote professionally in many fields, such as marketing communications, journalism and PR, and I "dabbled" in creative writing on the side. I decided to get "serious" about writing and I entered creative writing classes with limited success. (Limited by my own fear, but that is a different discussion). Then, life happened. I got sidetracked (willingly) with other professional ventures that I thought I needed to pursue and the writing stopped all together. That was in 1995. Flash-forward now: I am a "Jackie" a bit older, a tiny bit jaded and bored professionally. I cleaned out my closet the other day and stumbled across a novel that I had started back in 1993. I dusted it off and let it sit on my desk a few days. I decided to pick it up last Sunday and asked my husband if he wanted to hear something funny. He listened. No noise, no sound, no comment. After 30 pages, I was done. He looked at me and said, "Why didn't you tell me you are a writer?" There was no way to answer that question that would not involve a 3-day conversation, so I didn't answer him. He encouraged me to pick it back up again. So, here I am, desperately needing a place with "like-minded" people to help me navigate back to the creative places in my soul that have been dormant for so, so long. I would like to try to finish my novel. I have no huge illusions or dreams of making it "big" some day (Ok, well, maybe I do.) When I am finished, if I decide my novel is crap and needs to go back in the closet to be unearthed again after my demise, that is ok, too. I, at least, finished it. Thanks for reading and please say "hello!" Best, --Jackie
