Although, I've been a bit disappointed with some of the "attitudes" of the writers I've come across on here. I really don't know why people have to take on a high and mighty persona when it comes to writing. We all share similar struggles and frustrations - who am I to say that I'm a better writer than the next person?
This comment surprises me. I haven't been reading the boards so much lately (since about Thanksgiving) so maybe there's been an explosion of high and mightiness lately. I typically read only Fiction and MFA regularly. I've been a member here since 2007, and except for one member who early on called me a troll and suggested I was lying about my background and experience (I wasn't), I have found the members whose posts I come across to be generous, thoughtful, and encouraging.
And I consider myself among the least in the house: no publications beyond my own blog and some academic work (that is, all nonfiction, no fiction), no MFA, coming to the life late (I'm almost 63, have been writing fiction seriously for less than ten years).
Maybe I don't know what you mean by a "high and mighty persona."
