Hello, I'm new. Can't Post

I've not been subscribed to P&W for very long, but I just noticed the forums browsed some of the content, and decided to join this community. There isn't much else to say about me. I'm a 21 year old college student, working towards an undergraduate degree, after which I intend to seek admittance to a quality MFA program. I write fiction exclusively, but read everything voraciously. I've only been published once, in a place not worthy of note. I haven't been writing long, though I've long considered myself an aspiring writer. Basically, I've done nothing interesting and am not interesting.

I'm looking forward to learning from the members here, and becoming an active, contributing participant in the forum.

I'm a 21 year old ... I've done nothing interesting and am not interesting.

That's usually the case for 21 yos, though it's unusual for them to know it! Good on you. And welcome to the Speakeasy.

Hi, new person. You have one thing wrong. You are reading voraciously and writing fiction. That does not make you an aspiring writer. It makes you a writer. You are writing, after all. Think of yourself as a writer, not a wannabe writer. And you are welcome here. Some of us express opinions whether needed or not (me, f'rinstance) but we have a long tradition of encouraging each other and all serious writers. The wannabes (no apostrophe in that plural) tend not to stay long because serious writing is work. We honor that here.

To prevent sunburn, cover yourself with books.
