I got a very nice rejection letter from Irvine today. I should not regard thier decision "as in any way a reflection on the quality of (my) submitted work." See email rejecters it can be done nicely on real, even nice stationery. I'm so confused however how the rejection letters go out. I look at people who weren't rejected by Brown until March 23rd and I'm jealous -- did you guys make it to 3rd rounds and they figured out that they didn't want me in the first round? Probably! Ah, that's life.

Got my Irvine reject letter yesterday, too - dated March 17, from Michelle Latiolais. One of the TSE posters wrote that he got a phone call from her this week, with an acceptance. Not sure if I believe him, but he wrote that Michelle and Ron Carlson are the only readers of the submissions, and they are going at a snail's pace. This is apparently why the rejections and acceptances are slowly rolling out, and at the same time. They seem to know what they like when they see it (those are the lucky ones who get the phone calls) and know what they will definitely "not recommend for admission" when they see that (the letters for the rest of us) :-(

But, yeah, it does suck to know we probably weren't "considered" that carefully -- just part of their forward momentum process of rare accept and mass reject. Aw, well. "Forget it, Jake, it's Irvine."

Oh, man, I haven't gotten a letter yet from Irvine. It's the last school I'm waiting on, and it would really change what I'm deciding between now. I e-mailed their department (I'm fiction) and never got a response. That was a week or so ago.

I guess I'll just wait for the letter...

Got my official letters of rejection from U. of Oregon and Houston (fiction) over the weekend (snail mail). Fortunately, I expected the former and had already e-mailed and heard about the latter... Now just waiting on 2 more, officially.

Got rejected from BU via postal mail today (I'd been waiting for the letter for a while now, I was about 99% sure I didn't get in since all calls had already been made) and American via email.

I'm done, folks! 1/6, the 1 being Emerson's MA in Publishing program. Still haven't decided if I am going, I am waiting on financial aid.

Received a rejection email from Arizona State U. today, not that it matters, I've already chosen happily but the email subject said ASU DENY LETTER! Booo Booo. I expect better from educated people making decisions about people's futures.

Got message from my last school today -- rejection from UNLV -- but with an apology for communicating so often without making a decision and encouragement for future. Anyway. I've now heard from all 15 schools and the notification period is OVER for me- YAAY!

When i applied to MFA progs 3 years ago I received my rejection from Bama in JULY. I was packing the uhaul to move cross country to Montana and had basically forgotten I never heard from them. I know it was just some weird clerical error, yet amusing to be surrounded by boxes and dust bunnies and then there's this envelope. Uh, thanks.
