For Houston Acceptances (not sure if this applies to PhD too), just got
off the phone with J. Kastley and had a really good talk about funding.
As far as T.A. ships go, they won't know about them for a few weeks to
a few months. He said the tuition remission only comes if you get the
T.A. position. However, if you don't receive one, which he said only a
few don't, you are first in line the following year (in front of all
the new admittances), so guaranteed one essentially. I did get a
fellowship, $5,000, and there are varying amounts being offered. As
long as you get a fellowship that is at least $1,000 dollars, you get
automatic in-state tuition. Hope that clears up some financial stuff
you might have had on your mind.
