minnesota managed to lose all three of my recommendation letters, so my recommenders had to email them to the program coordinator, which meant my application (CNF) didn't get added to the "reading pile" until today. when i asked the coordinator whether this would affect my chances of being admitted, since the notification dates on seth's blog for the past two years indicated CNF people would start hearing at the end of january, this is what she said (copied from an email): "No, your chances of being admitted to the program are not compromised. We notify fellowship nominees in January, not regular admits. Fellowship nominees are Graduate School-wide. A fellowship is not the same as offer of admission that comes with a Teaching Assistantship. Admission offers are sent in during the month of February." if this is true, i'm assuming the poetry person who was accepted today received a fellowship as well... the point being that there is still hope for poetry applicants (and the rest of us) who don't hear from minnesota right now. deep breaths...
