Comments about the Poets & Writers article
and them posting topics I've commented on, I feel a little bit "looked in on"
Heroics M. when you say you feel looked in on, I'm assuming that you mean you feel uncomfortable about it and I'm sorry if you feel that way. Poets & Writers Magazine regularly publicizes Poets & Writers Speakeasy just as the Speakeasy regularly publicizes the magazine. Any just to be clear, any interviews and quotes were published only after written authorization from the authors.
P&W is very interested in growing this community of writers as well as growing the readership of the magazine. The Speakeasy is not just a community service, although it is a terrific one. It's part of a larger organization, too. And as Alexi pointed out, many of us are interested in seeing this communtiy grow to include others with similar and different points of view. That's what will keep the Speakeasy community vibrant and dynamic and an interesting place in which to participate.
We do have more than 27,000 registered users but how many patrons actually post at all, even one time? How many patrons are regular participants? As you can see we have far more registered users who are lurkers than we do posters. The overwhelming majority of people only look in and never make themselves known. This is probably something everyone should be aware as it is the common standard of participation on message boards that have free membership.
