Application Deadlines! 2008 Can't Post

It can be challenging, stressful, frightening and sometimes oddly liberating as your application deadline approaches. Will you have your packet pulled together in time? Maybe you got a late start on the application process. Maybe some applications just took longer than you thought they would. Maybe everything took longer than you thought it would! If you're looking for schools with later than usual deadlines or you simply want to share a slice of anxiety pie, here is the place to talk about those Dreaded Application Deadlines!

Anyone else seriously considering putting together a few more last-minute apps to late deadline schools? Anyone else know of any late deadline schools??

Yes, I know, I need to relax. In with the good air, etc...

I'm definitely not applying to any more schools. Eleven is quite enough for me. However - American University and UNC Wilmington both have Feb 1st deadlines. UNC Greensboro has a March 15th deadline (but Feb 1st to be considered for a TA) and the wording on George Mason U's application and website made it seem (to me) like they only encourage a mid-January deadline but they'd accept apps after. Good luck!

I don't know if this is the right place to post this but how long do schoools generally keep applications on file in case one decides to wait it out and re-apply?

I don't know about other schools, but Iowa's grad department keeps your info for at least a year. You can change your application session to next year without paying another $60.

However, it would probably be wise to pay anyway and resubmit the grad department application if you have substantial changes to include (taking classes, etc.). Regardless, you can separately submit updated stories or poems to the Workshop itself. I don't know how long, or if, they keep your writing sample. If it didn't get you in the first time, it probably won't the second. Though it might. But why risk it?

Best of luck!
