Speakeasy posting policies Can't Post

The Poets & Writers Speakeasy is a forum for discussions about the craft of writing and the business of writing. You will find many conversations devoted to education, contests, writing and publishing your fiction, non-fiction and poetry.

However, The Poets & Writers organization does not sponsor workshops or provide a forum here for posting your creative work. There are many other writing boards that do provide workshopping. Please feel free to read the thread Sites for Workshopping and Critique in the forum About The Speakeasy in order to find links to those other boards.

We also have a new forum called Shameless Plugs for announcing the specifics of your latest work. Please post your publicity items there.

The Speakeasy is also a community of writers and as such, we have community standards concerning the ways in which we engage with each other. Disagreement is inherent in many subjects discussed at the Speakeasy, however, respectful and civil disagreement is what is appropriate. Spirited discussion is welcomed and encouraged but flames, personal attacks and ad hominem arguments are not.

A new patron recently expressed it quite nicely:

"Keep it brief, play fair,

show a little respect for the varying levels of knowledge here

- and for your fellow humans."

Thanks and welcome to the Speakeasy.
