If you can find your way into the archives, there were several postings about BU a few years ago. From what I remember, there's a lot to be said about the program. Great faculty, with Robert Pinsky and Derek Walcott on the poetry side and Ha Jin, Leslie Epstein and Martha Cooley in fiction. They've graduated some top-notch writers, including Jhumpa Lahiri, Ha Jin and Peter Ho Davies. And they have an incredible location not too far from Boston's Back Bay. (Emerson's better situated, but its writing program can't touch BU's reputation.) On the negative side, the program is only a year long (which is why I didn't apply -- I wanted longer), and I'm not sure how generous they are with funding. Their web site says that assistantships and fellowships are available, but you'd still have to contend with the price of Boston which, while it isn't quite as pricey as New York, still ain't cheap. Lastly, apropos of nothing, a few graduates from BU's writing program recently started Post Road, which has become one of my favorite literary magazines. Not quite an insider's POV, but I hope this helps.
