Re: [willbell] Vermont [In reply to] Can't Post

I was in the same situation last year with Vermont College. I followed their advice, which was to continue working on my writing. I chose to take an online graduate writing course through them last winter. It helped quite a bit, plus the professor gave me a recommendation for VC and Stonecoast.

I did take the opportunity a couple of years ago to go to Goddard for a discovery day. I did like what I saw and I enjoyed talking to the people there. If I hadn't made it into either program I would have applied at Goddard for the Spring; I wanted a lot of time to develop my application materials.

Keep working at it and don't give up. You will make it.

Darren

Thanks Darren. You addressed the question that's I've been thinking about all day: should I keep working, take an online class, etc and then reapply to VC and Bennington or should I get started at Goddard?

I'm going up to Goddard on Saturday to have a look around.

Hi Will,

I was accepted to Goddard last year. I contacted about twenty alums to ask them about their experiences at Goddard and they were unanimously positive. I don't think you can go wrong with Goddard. Everyone I spoke with their writing had improved with the program.

Re: [iceq777] Vermont [In reply to] Can't Post

Thanks for your help.

I went up to Plainfield last weekend and took a look around...then I came home and ordered 12 books by the faculty. It seems like a great program, especially since I write plays and prose.

Still waiting to hear back from Bennington.

Don't expect to hear anything from Bennington until late March-early April.

Their deadline for submission was March 1 and they don't send stuff to their readers until after the deadline, from what I understand.

Re: Oui ou Non? [In reply to] Can't Post

I have been a silent participant of this conversation and with the sudden halt in discussion as of early March, I can only assume those who did not get into their schools are keeping quiet (wanting to talk very little on the subject) and those who were accepted are elated, but contemplating whether or not it will be the right school for them.

I suppose I am curious. How is everyone doing?

I will break the silence and scream through my satellite (in the African bush) to friendly literary computers in the states (my first home) and share my acceptance to Goucher! No one has spoken about Goucher, but I am absolutely jumping out of my skin after having a disappointing experience in a previous MFA program. Life couldn't be higher!
