The email with my temporary password said I must change it right away, but where? I tried the logical icons & can't seem to find it. Help!

Use the Edit Profile button in the top bar to access your profile. "Change Password" is listed in the options on that page.

Thanks, it worked. I thought I checked that one. This message board was so frustrating the first time I tried to use it a few months ago that I gave up too soon.

thanks jchapman for the temporary password. I got in the first time and it's an entirely new environment. I'm keeping my old logon id because it has an old registration date, probably the oldest. i first saw the ad for speakeasy at the p&w magazine and i logged in for curiosity. mr. elliot figman was posting and welcoming new registrants when speakeasy came out . this environment is similar to the INVISION software but with Invision you can PIN the best thread, best comment up on the front. Also at Invision, the users can make a poll or survey among the registrants of the forum.

Hi Marie,

When you enter the Speakeasy you'll see a row of icons at the top of the screen. Click on Edit Profile. That will take you to a screen with several options. Click on the icon that says User profile and you'll see the fields for changing your password.

If you have any other problems, let me know. In the meanwhile, welcome back to the Speakeasy!

Dana

GF actually has a poll option, but I currently have it uninstalled. If there ends up being enough interest in it, we can turn it on some time in the future. Right now, though, I still have some old forums to recover and some other features to write before implementing any other changes.

Re: [jason] the password [In reply to] Can't Post

Hello Dana, the administrator, I'm not Marie, this is Eliz or beth. I think you may have mistaken me for Marie Mockett who send me her rejections slips which have been transformed into a painting(still hangs in the cafe, the next artist didn't bring his stuff yet..)..

Hello again to Jason: Thanks for resetting my password, this time, I immediately went to my edit profile(thanks to dana) and changed my password.
This Gossamer Software has also the polling feature? Invision is very similar to this software. It's easy for any user to create a poll. For instance, you can make a poll to throw out a participant in a forum. I remember in one forum there was a 'silverdog' user who was pestering everybody so one participant used the poll feature if the participants would like to boot silverdog out of the forum..the results were 52/48 in favor of keeping him since they found silverdog though annoying and irritating , he was an interesting character.

Also, the forum has specific stringent rules of what or what not to do. I'll see if I can find the list.

The Invision hosts said, "If you can't manage your behavior in this forum, the host will manage it for you. " However though the rules were strict, some people got booted out, the hosts were forgiving once the shut-out participant pleaded his/her case and promised to be on good behaviour.

Also, Invision was specific, you can see which thread a participant is viewing or looking at.
