There were many useful items in the old archives I'd like to access (lists of publications, zines and changes, summer workshops and such)- but- whatever you have put in there seems to be massive and takes forever to load- I gave up and I have high speed DSL.
I would like to see topics on those items continued, if possible-
otherwise, this is okay, though I hate change-
To view the archives, make sure your "Display Settings" are set to "Default Post Display: flat" and "Default Forum View: collapsed". In threaded view, the Web request times out long before the database server can build the response.
===Stop here if you're not interested in the technical goop==
Since the motet database was "unthreaded," each topic consisted of one long, continuous thread, with each post being a reply to the post before it. The only problem with that is that in order to get the database into the new system, I had to bypass it's internal routines that correct for and allow for long, long threads. Thus, the time-out problem.
As soon as I get a chance, I'll write in a safeguard to force "flat mode" when viewing the archives.
