I just started the Stonecoast MFA in July - in fact Elli was my "student advocate" and helped me learn my way around. If I can answer any questions, I'd be happy to. In brief: I was really impressed. The faculty was fantastic, the other students were incredibly friendly, helpful, and smart, and I feel like I'm learning a tremendous amount. I was a bit uncertain about the low-residency format, but I'm confident now that it was the right choice.
Good luck - and FYI, the writing sample is far more important than any other part of your application, including the essay.
