hey meg, pass along my appreciation for the good crits i got in the few months I was in "your writing three" also real live poems 2, I think was the forum or "conference". to the hosts meg 888 if that was U, wendy etc. hosts were learning as we were ...about crits and communicating. will miss wendy's "good gravy!" messages of late in an exchange I had with her when she was firing away with posts of her new work. was fun. and i think that was really important: to reference the poems people posted and learn from reading hosts( moderators) comments (your writing three) and then responding to the confabs and comments and more explicitly to the poems themselves. great synergy/ anyone know of another site using a similiar posting crit (referential response by number) developed in Motet? Lemme know?
I think Poets and Writers is mssing the boat by not developing a subject posting forum like "your writing three" and real live poems 2 etc.here in this software altho i haven't been thru the entire thing yet looking for some kinds of non-thread exchange. linear blocking is better, I think. I will have to say that the hosts of motet may have been in an unpaid position and didn't have to comment on our posts of poems etc. I appreciated their activity and references. If Poets and Writers brings back motet style linear blocking by referential as a posting format and really thinks thru this way of communicating and building community , I don't know....it needs something... It would be so popular you'd have subscriptions to hard copy doubling in 2004-2005. P&W: where do you make your money, your net income for the year? It felt so good for a host to recognize my writing by answering my poetic efforts in motet "your writing three", i couldn't wait to get home to participate. [suddenly, in the background someone shouted 'Get a life!!!'] ahhhhh anyway, like to see some kind of hard copy version of forum-style "your writing three"real live poems 2 as well... as an example published in trade format in P&W special issue three times a year with sample pages and references ? people would feel the connection and poets writers, fictioneers, crave connection. would people turn to a center section of a special edition of Poets and Writers featuring linear blocking forum-style posts and crits, and references, you betcha- booty they would, wanna sell mags? figure a way to bring motet style forums back. the business of writng is community and the work written, crafted and formed. and the writers behind the lines, behind the craft, behind the function of the line, listening in the silence of an exchange, the heart changes and the eye is rewarded, the soul prospers..
