I feel you, jamilinzi. Hunter is, at this point, tops for me too, though I'm applying in fiction. I like everything I've heard about the program, admire Peter Carey's devotion to it, am a city person who prefers commuter campuses, etc. But... but... funding. Though the cost wouldn't be horrible for me, because 1. I'm instate, and 2. I live close enough to NYC that I could conceivably be one of those glamorous "divides her time" people, as in "cigarettes divides her time between her actual place of residence and the couches of her long-suffering friends and family." And there is always the possibility of one of those Hertog fellowships, which would take care of in-state tuition. But I have been wondering that myself: what if I got into another program with full funding? If I had to make the decision today, I think I would try to make Hunter work. It's a problem I'd like to have, frankly.
