Congratulations, unsaid! It honestly makes me so happy when a regular here posts an acceptance. Especially when they're not the same genre as me. ;) You guys really are starting to feel like family... and that's going to solidify throughout the scares and triumphs and depression and crazed ravings. Wendy Rawlings just called. I'm in at Alabama.

I wish I hadn't known the area code beforehand, because when I saw it come up on the phone, it just made me more of a hopeless nut job by the time I actually answered. She sounded a little skeptical the whole call, like "um, maybe this wasn't such a good idea..." and I honestly don't blame her. I think I used the words "awesome," "amazing," "wonderful," "great," "oh my goodness," "oh my god," "wow," "cool," etc. at least ten times each.

Good luck, everyone. I think she's going down the list right now.

btw, i kept saying, "omg! shut up! omg!" on the phone like i was lindsay lohan in mean girls and "thank you! thank you!" like a beauty pagaent queen, so stumbling and incoherent text is appropriate! also, i think i said, "i can't put together a coherent sentence." good first impression for writing!

Congrats! There are way more P&W Alabama people this year than previous years (I know, I checked--to see where else Alabama people got in. Syracuse, Wash-U, and Notre Dame, to name a few. Lol)! It will be fun to meet each other if we all go visit the same weekend. :)

Sorry, Germericanqt, I forgot to tell you congradulations! I really am happy for you, as much as I would like 'Bama (get use to saying, "Bama this" and "Bama that" and "O Bama" (separate words!))I will be fine wherever I get in - that's strong positive thinking.

This morning I had my reality check slap me up side the head: I had a phone message at 8:37 a.m. and all I could think of after reading this board the night before was, "oh, please be Wendy or someone from Alabama, yes-s-s!" Alas, it was sad news that a life-long friend of mine is terminal. It really brought me back to earth with a hard landing. The me, me, me is gone and real perspective is back.

So, back to the cheery notes: congradulations to everyone who can now enter the planning stage.

Katevey, don't give up hope. The game's not over yet. Part of the reason Joel Brouwer chewed us out for posting our acceptances was because it gives people false despair. Acceptances can and will go out as late as April. Best of luck. I'm rooting for you. I'm sorry about your friend.

Thanks! In the email they said they won't decide on funding until March, but hinted that they would try very hard to give me some. I won't go without a TAship, I cant justify going into debt and not getting teaching experience....UNCW still charges in-state tuition for the 2nd and 3rd years, so you get a $14,000 stipend each year, tuition waiver for year 1, but then pay $5,000 for years 2 and 3. Doesn't seem too bad, I'm just stoked to be in somewhere! I think I read on the MFA blog that someone had also gotten in for poetry, but I was also told in the email that they had not finished reviewing applications. Hope this helps!
