Hey - I've been a lurker as well, and I've also been accepted at Wichita State - so we've got a couple of things in common. I've been in contact with the program director - Darren DeFrain. He's been really helpful in answering my questions. I know the program is not top tier by any means, but it is one of the oldest in the country, so that's something. I've also been in contact with a couple of the students in the program, and they love it. I asked around the writing profs where I got my MA and they had all heard good things about WSU. Also, I'm from KC and I'd been to Wichita many times when I was younger, but my fiance and I went down there two weekends ago, and it seems to have changed - for the better. It is a pretty big city - half a million people - so there is plenty to do and see. From what I've been told, it is best to stay on the northeast side of town, but not necessarily near the campus (which happens to be in the NE part of town). Anyway, I hope this helps.
