I didn't my Iowa rejection today :( or any letter from them, I mean. Strange that we're in the same town and you received yours. I'm hoping they didn't send it to my parents' house.

Argh. I know I will probably get it tomorrow or Friday, but a part of me is like "What if ...."
Someone in Idaho on TSE got theirs today too. I looked up a map of the U.S. and Idaho is physically farther from Iowa than Michigan is ... Michigan is actually pretty close. lol.

megmarcu

I am an undergrad at Davis. The writing program seems supportive and collegial. I've worked with most of the poets. Davis is not a bad place to live, not a whole lot there (it's your basic college town) but close to everything, beach, mountains, cities, country. If you don't have one, buy a bike. Good luck.

Re: I'M IN! [In reply to] Can't Post

oh boy.

i just got accepted, via e-mail, to montana. fiction. with TAship. my brain, it is collapsing!
this news came at the best possible moment, i have been drowning in stress/worry/self-doubt/etc. i called my mom this morning and just fell apart. then i called her now and fell apart for a completely different reason.

they asked to be notified of my decision by april 15. is it appropriate to sent a response e-mail saying "thank you" and let them know i'm waiting to hear from several more schools, but am very excited by their offer? how does this part work?

oh boy.

Re: [ummmliz] I'M IN! [In reply to] Can't Post

Congratulations first and foremost!

Second, I shied away from the 'other schools' question when I got my in. I just kept saying that they were a top program on my list ( I was asked what other programs I was considering). I would suggest something along the same lines. "Thank you so much for the offer, I'm incredibly excited at the prospect of attending Montana in the fall" and then ask any questions you might have. I tend to err on the side of discretion, but would try not to do the whole 'other schools' thing unless you have to tell them (like, say, you get another great offer and want to see if Montana can give more money or less teaching to compensate). You have to the 15th, they know it, you know it. Take the time.

Montana! That's great!

If I had to do another round of MFA apps next year, I'd put Montana near the top of my list. Never having been to Montana except parts of Yellowstone, I equate it to Shangri-La.

ummmliz,

In the event that you still have some question about multiple acceptances let me assure you that it is a question that has been asked and answered in this thread and in others, numerous times in previous MFA discussions.

Although I know it might be a laborious process, you can do a search in this thread with some key words to see if you can find the answers you need.

Congratulations to you and everyone else who has been accepted!

Re: [unsaid78] UMASS-Boston [In reply to] Can't Post

Thanks! I was hoping that VA tech interview would start a snowball effect, and Alabama, SUI, Maryland, and Boston would follow suit with offers this week or next.

The amazing part is that I missed the application deadline and didn't finish applying to UMASS-Boston. They emailed me like 2 weeks ago and asked if my sample and essay got lost in the mail since they had only received my transcripts and LOR's. I told them I'd missed the deadline and had never mailed them. They then called me an hour later and said if I sent the writing sample and essay to them by Friday (this was on a Wednesday) I would be reviewed with the other applicants. So of course I did and this is the result. Crazy!
