Re: [theliteratecondition] Rejected [In reply to] Can't Post

I've been rejected from Oregon, Minnesota, and Michener. I'm probably rejected from BGSU because, via Seth's site (oh good, another tool to fuel my obsession!) someone got accepted on 3/3...okay that was over a week ago can I just have my rejection letter now? I'm waitlisted at Hollins and accepted to the MA program in Milwaukee. Still waiting on UNLV, Temple, and U. of Wash. I'd prefer an MFA program but I'm not sure that is in the cards for me. This is my second round of apps (went 0 for 10 last year), so at this point perhaps I should take what I can get.

I've decided to throw my energy into fiction submissions for the time being. I like my rejection to have a bit of variety. Good luck to everyone!

Not just rejected, but redirected? [In reply to] Can't Post

Has anyone else gotten their MFA application "redirected" to the school's English MA program? I just got a letter from one of my four rejections (Michener, NYU, Brooklyn, and Columbia) saying I'm a strong candidate for the English MA, and asked if I was interested.

I am, but not if that means being pegged as an "English student" at the expense of a "creative writing student." Any thoughts?

But what's he building in there?

Re: [wishdaycome] Not just rejected, but redirected? [In reply to] Can't Post

It depends on the MA program, I would think. I thought I read somewhere (on this forum?) that UTA will change their MA to an MFA so that they would offer one MFA thru the English Dept. and one thru the Michener Center for Writers. If that is the program that has redirected you, I think you might still consider yourself a "creative writing student", but you would have access to TAships instead of the envious amount of funding the Michener students get without the obligation of teaching. I don't know anything about the other programs though.

What next? Write! That's more important than a writing "degree" anyway...
