Yes, I'm Kay Bay too :) I love Florida's program, and honestly I would really only pick Notre Dame or Alabama (whomp whomp whooooomp) over Florida. I applied to the schools above, as well as Notre Dame, Florida, Florida State, McNeese State, and UNCG.
I know this is faulty logic, but I just can't imagine getting accepted at any of those schools given that I haven't even been waitlisted anywhere else. In fact, I haven't even received an email from any of them. I know in my heart that I'll go 0-11, but I learned a lot. Next year, I'm going to put more "mid-tier" funded programs on my list and probably nix the insanely competitive programs like Cornell, Vandy, and Iowa. Even with a quality, polished sample, it seems nearly impossible to get into those schools.
I'm going to take a couple lit courses in the summer, hopefully find a creative writing course as well, so that I have better recommenders (my recommenders were all colleagues. I didn't want to ask old professors, most aren't even at Auburn anymore!). I'm going to spend more time on my SOP (I put ALL of my energy into my sample). I'm going to retake the GRE, too. I don't think I'm getting rejected because of my GRE scores/SOP/recommendations, I'm sure it's my sample, but I'm going to try to make myself the most competitive applicant that I can.
I'm also considering Seth's service, if not for the manuscript review, at least for the "list" service. I think my list was off this year, and I'd like help finding the best "fit."
I'm a little bummed, but it's all good :)
