This is the thing...it is NOT a tuition waiver, just the $10,000 a year, and I'm not exactly sure how expensive Columbia is, but 10G doesn't cut it, not to mention the price of living in the city (as much as I want to.) We'll see how things go.
Wouldn't it be great if they put that on the web site? Columbia was home to many famous trustfundians, including Rick Moody, and the families of its students have their white little hands in many institutions, such as government and publishing! If you can buy your way into our program, then chances are your family has the resources to donate to our program some day, even after you make none of your actual income from publishing!
But they don't. So does anyone have the numbers? It's somewhere around $75, 000 total, I think. What does that come out to, $25K for each workshop? And for the talented students whose mommies aren't old-school NY rich or work or screw people at Random House, they offer the equivalent of 1/6th tuition? Wow, those guys are totally into art!
