The radio show is roughly half an hour of reading from some novel (currently Edna Ferber's Show Boat), half an hour of music (probably Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes this Sunday) and then an hour of me reading poetry and saying whatever comes into my head.

When everything is working right, I archive the show on Ustream; otherwise, you have to catch it as it streams.

I'm Sally McNall. I have written poems since the 40s, been serious and published since the 80s, but only now full time. There were no MFAs when I was in school, but I know my poets, have been to many good workshops and a couple that were otherwise. Seeking other poets who were formed before this century to exchange work. If you are wholly of this century, that is okay too. Sample work sent on request.

Thanks, Pongo. I'm still looking. I go to Squaw or Napa when I can, but the rest of the year I work with a group which gives me a really easy pass. Know anyone who might want to workshop?

Hello, everyone! My name is Maggie, and I'm 26 years old. This is my first time joining any sort of writing community (online or not) but I've been writing (or trying to write, rather) fictional pieces/short stories for about 4 years. I'm sure you can all relate to that moment when you discover your true calling, and I've discovered mine. I've never been published, or even tried to be, but I'm starting to feel like I'm ready to at least head in that direction. I'm a little in over my head, so any advice is more than welcome. :)
I look forward to taking the next step.

Hello, everyone! A good friend and fellow writer referred me to PW.org, and so far, I am excited by what I see here. I am a poet and a writer, when there is time in the day left for it. I work full time, go to school full time, and work in a couple of civic organizations. I have yet to finish anything but poetry. It will be nice to have a new place to share ideas and find inspiration again. Thanks for being here!

Hello! I am new to the speakeasy, as well as internet forum posting in general (I read but never post), and I am an aspiring writer from Long Island, NY. I currently work full time doing Trial Preparation at a mid-sized law firm and I am a full time student at SUNY Empire State College.

I've written mostly short works, some scripts and scattered parts of novels, and I have been happily rejected by numerous publications (haha).

The main reason I signed up was to make connections with other writers, and to discuss ...well, writing.

So...yes, hello!

Interesting about your mentor. I'm so glad there are schools like Empire, I joined the workforce at a young age and toyed with college for a while until I finally knuckled down. It's not too bad taking 16 credits there and having a full time position at a job like mine.

What up doe!

I am a 21 year old student going into my senior year of college. I have been writing seriously for about 3 years now and i have quickly found that poetry is a great medium to express myself, write about things that are hard to talk about and, gain knowledge about the world around me. I have been trained in the classics reading poets like Christopher Marlowe, John Donne, Shakespeare as well as other Renaissance poets. I also dig Langston Hughes, Countee Cullen and my girl Nikki Giovanni to throw some names out their from the contemporary world. Now that I am going into my last year of college my dream is to get into a MFA program and continue my education in poetry which will hopefully lead to a job teaching kids the way that poetry can heal and help. I am finally glad to find a place to fully be myself and i am very excited to see what P&W's has to offer me.
