Vesuvia, Funding is good if you can get it. =) The problem is that there are only 10-11 TAs to go around. If anybody does get in but gets no funding, drop me a line. (I didn't get funding). I have some tips as to how to make it workable. While having to pay for an MFA isn't the best route one could take, Montana's yearly tuition & cost of living are exponentially less than, say, Columbia. I think the TA's pay is about $10k these days, but you only teach one class per semester. Most second years get to teach creative writing. I think Montana gets a bit of a bad rap by not funding everyone, but the situation is that there just aren't enough undergrads to teach. The U only has 13,000 students. If the program were smaller (i.e, 20 students total instead of a little over 40) eveyone would be funded. But nobody wants it to be smaller. --Jason
