Aw, thanks...if it makes you feel better, my last vacation was spent between Detroit and Cleveland. Woo.

But do feel free to come along. The place we're staying is near a new age retreat, and I'll bet they'd let you stay for free if you'd run their drum circle. ; )
As for the waiting stuff, it has gotten so impossibly old. I know I'm supposed to "calm down" and "be patient," but that's awfully hard to do when I'm waiting to figure out where I'll be living/working come September---not to mention to find out what my creative contemporaries think of my writing. Not knowing is hard; harder for me, at least, than being rejected. If I knew I had been rejected, I could move on with my life, sign up for fall workshops and conferences, etc. But as it is new, I feel stuck, impatient, and painfully distracted. Yurk.
I haven't taken a vacation in fifteen years... My rusted-out Subaru is too unreliable to make it farther than the edge of town, which is fine because I have no money for gas anyway... I may be getting laid off, too. Forget Hawaii. In the words of Eric Cartman: "F-U, guys, I'm going home."
No, just kidding. Have fun and all that. Congratulations are definitely in order to anyone who's got the nerve to elope in this age of $50,000 weddings. I'm just a bitter old hag but I'll wish you well. Oh, can I go along as your personal baggage handler or something? Or as your beloved pet poodle? You should see my haircut...
