Someone on godfrey's blog said that they're status changed to rejected on michigans wolverine access. Mine's the same. Can anyone confirm or deny?

I'm in the same mindset as others about Michigan. Acceptances and waitlists have already gone out...I'm just waiting on my rejection.

Man oh man, I've already been rejected from Western Michigan and after I saw that post about 920 fiction writers applying to Iowa, my top choice, I'm starting to give up on that dream. I haven't heard diddly from other schools yet, but I'm doubtful about my chances at JHU and Houston. Where does that leave me? I think my best bet might be Illinois-Urbana Champaign but I hardly know anything about them;just that I love their lit mag, Ninth Letter. Does anyone know the scoop on that program? I never hear anyone mention it around here.

Nothing has changed at the U of M site for me, but then nothing has changed on the Wisconsin site either. Rejections in from Cornell and Purdue but still waiting on my other seven schools. next week is spring break at many schools. I hope to hear something soon.

Michigan [In reply to] Can't Post

I called the secretary at Michigan this morning and confirmed that if you haven't received an email offer of admission or waitlist, you will definitely be getting a rejection letter (regardless of what your online application says).

Oh well. Ten to go!

i know you and amory are joking around and such, but to maybe clarify -

we have two new fiction faculty that were probably not teaching when you were undergrad (and im assuming you took classes from the director), and it makes sense that he'd need to write a rec, i think, for the other faculty to read, etc

but yes, that is still hilarious, i completely agree.

also, you should still have hope - ive emailed with two accepted fiction candidates so far who seem as though they'll be attending other programs

good luck

I applied to seven schools for poetry and haven't heard about acceptances at any except Iowa, and only two there. I have mostly been stressing out about Iowa, the school I most want to attend, but also the one least likely to accept me. If anyone has heard of letters or phone calls going out to any of the following schools for poetry, could you let me know?

Iowa
NYU
Syracuse
Sarah Lawrence
The New School
Houston
Oregon

I wouldn't worry too heavily. There has been a distinct lack of poetry news the last two weeks. We're still waiting to hear acceptances for Illinois, Western Michigan, and IU (who accepted for fiction a month ago!) among other schools.

I guess no news is good news right?

I think that Syracuse may have notified in poetry. (Check Seth's blog.) I think there was only one report, though. I remember feeling anxious because they could be followed shortly by fiction acceptances. However, that wasn't the case and Syracuse hasn't notified until March in previous years.

Don't count anything out, yet!

OK, I can't stand waiting for Iowa anymore. It's driving me crazy. Cornell and Michigan were painful, but relatively quick. And I'm not stressed about the other schools I applied to because nobody's heard from them yet. But Iowa! The way it's dragging out is sadistic!

I know several fiction people have been accepted by phone, but I keep hearing that not every acceptance gets a phone call--some will just find out by letter.

If anybody finds out they got accepted or waitlisted by Iowa by letter, please post it! It will be painful but I want to be put out of my misery! I think once I know I'm definitely rejected I can move on, like I have with Cornell and Michigan.

I'm so with you on this.

The only school I've heard from is Ohio State, which waitlisted me two weeks after it called other people. It just built up my confidence enough to keep me freaking out. Since a few schools like Iowa have started contacting people, I'm now strangely obsessed with checking the mailbox...

I just want to know!

Any nonfiction people hear from U of Pitt yet? Seth has it down as out on his blog. Some strange Website has it down, too, but I haven't read anything first hand. Help soothe my anxiety disorder.

I was accepted yesterday at Pitt for nonfiction - letter first, and e-mail last night.

I feel like the last girl to be picked to dance. I have been rejected from Madison (fiction) and haven't heard a peep out of any of my other 8 schools! It seems like people are getting acceptances left and right and I've heard nothing!

When will the torture end?

Syracuse
Oregon
UT Austin
UC Irvine
Colorado State
Texas State
UNC Wilmington
Florida State

Has anyone heard anything from these schools? Also, any rejection letters from UNCW? I saw a couple people have been accepted, but I've heard nothing!!!!

I am waiting on Oregon too. I applied to six schools and haven't heard from any yet. Even though I have yet to be rejected or accepted, I feel a wave of emotion everytime I read these posts. I think the first two weeks of March will be a letter frenzy!

My dance card is empty, too, and I've applied to four schools in new york (though two of them have made at least some of their calls). It's a little crazy making! I did it last year, and thought I would be able to be more relaxed this time around. Alas!

I've been rejected by Cornell and Michigan and am waiting on all the rest. Everyone in the waiting game still has a lot of company! I'm anxious for and terrified of the next two weeks. I'm really ready to just know, but I'm scared of how I'll handle things if they go badly. I wish I could bargain with the MFA gods. If just one school accepts me (especially if it's Syracuse or Iowa!) you can reject me from everywhere else and I promise not to make one bit of fuss about it and I promise to work really really hard and eat my vegetables and call my parents once a week and I'll get much better about forcing myself to write even when I feel like it's as much fun as getting teeth pulled and I promise to repsect my peers and listen to my professors forever and ever, amen...

UT Austin Fiction [In reply to] Can't Post

It may be already posted somewhere on here or another blog, but in case it's not, UT Austin will be making their decisions on March 10. The faculty has narrowed 700+ entries down to 50. The 10 candidates selected for admission will be contacted personally. The rest will either get an email or letter later in the month.

Good luck everybody!
