I was reading some comments on Seth's blog and saw this:
"I got into Cornell (phone 2/9, 2/8? something like that), Michigan (email 2/19) and Iowa (phone 2/19).
I know that they are doing this in rounds, and that it is way early in the process, and that people shouldn't be too discouraged.
I got really lucky, but I can't go everywhere, and so more spots will open up as people decide. Which,in my case, may take a while.
Good luck all"
I'm not an angry or jealous person, normally. But reading that was too much. I know that in the big picture, this MFA process isn't the determining factor in who I will be as a writer, or the kind of sucsess or happiness I'll have. But right now, after making a sizable financial investment and a much larger emotional investment, it is important. So reading that someone has three of my top choices in the bag makes me jealous right down to my very toes.
The stupidest thing is, I don't even know anything yet, other than I didn't get into Cornell. But logic isn't a strong player in this game. Stand aside! Jealousy is a much more ferocious beast!
