Man, I am seriously thinking of gluing my fingers together to keep me from calling UVA to ask what's up. I'm trying to play it like UVA is a guy I really like: act cool! you have other, more important things going on! you are not desperate!!! But I may break down at some point. I feel ill. The good thing about thinking you're rejected is that it makes you realize where you really want to go. I felt bad about Cornell, but Michener? Iowa? Eh. Water off a duck's back. Guess I didn't really want to go there. So I've started thinking about next year, what I'd do differently--maybe it's a little too soon to discuss this, but I think I'd pay A LOT more attention to the personal statement and in the cohesiveness of the work I choose to include in my sample. Rather than worrying about "range," I'd try to present myself as an unusual, interesting person with some catchy hook that will make admissions committees eager to see more. (for example, unusual life experiences, where I come from socially, culturally.) I'd really consider the whole package that I'm giving them, and the impression of myself that is compiled from the statement, sample, school records, etc. Anybody else thinking about next year?
