I've been involved with
Grist since I got here (nearly) two years ago, and I think for a journal about to publish its third issue (it's an annual), it's done really well in attracting quality writing and authors. We're just about to launch a re-design of the website, journal, and logo—all great improvements in my opinion. In the upcoming issue most of the material comes from the slush pile—which I think can be good, especially for the integrity of the editorial process and the reputation as a journal that is for writers. We also always publish an essay by a writer on craft, as well as try and incorporate a form less published in literary journals (graphic novel, one-act play, etc.) Nearly all positives!
