Bagels, not an answer to your Q, but...
for anyone not going to a funded program (or even those who are?), do not overlook doing a FAFSA for financial aid. I never did any of that for undergrad, assuming it was for other folks, I wouldn't qualify, etc... I took advantage of it this year for coursework I had to complete for state teacher certification (and also did a private school version for my sons' school) and had thousands of dollars sent my way - not a loan. Between the Pell grant I was given (not toe mention the discount off the boys' school) and the part time writing teaching job I got, it is really the equivalent of having TA funding at a residency MFA. Just saying, be sure to look at all possibilities -- there may be opp's that surprise you.
