Ugly Duckling Presse

We favor emerging, international, and “forgotten” writers with well-defined formal or conceptual projects that are difficult to place at other presses. We also offer several curated series: the Eastern European Poets Series (publishing translations of poetic works from that area); the Dossier Series (specializing in conceptual and investigative works); the Lost Literature Series (bringing back neglected works of the 20th century); and 6x6, a poetry magazine. Our releases often contain handmade elements, calling attention to the labor and history of bookmaking.

Specializing in poetry, creativity is our North Star, serving as both inspiration and guidepost as we open the channels of publication to those who are driven to expression.
