Persea Books

PERSEA BOOKS is an independent, literary publishing house founded in 1975 by Michael Braziller and Karen Braziller, who still own and direct the company.

Over the past decades, Persea has produced hundreds of engaging and consequential books. The aim of the press is to publish works that endure by meeting high standards of literary merit and relevance. We have often taken on important books other publishers have overlooked, or have made significant discoveries and rediscoveries, whether of a single work or writer's entire oeuvre.

Philistine Press

We are a non-profit publisher of free ebooks. We’re here to publish material that wouldn’t ordinarily be published by mainstream presses or accepted by the literary establishment. There are many adjectives we could use to describe ourselves – original, experimental, uncompromising – but the best way to understand Philistine Press is to read our work.

Plan B Press

Plan B Press encourages, captures, presents and preserves contemporary poetry by publishing and presenting emerging poets. A small independent publishing company that primarily produces high-quality, limited-run poetry chapbooks. We have also created two short fiction collections and four full-length books.

Poet's Haven, The

The Poet's Haven is a place for artists across a wide and diverse spectrum to feel safe seeing their work published. We are open to unsolicited submissions from both experienced, published creators and talents new to submitting work for publication. We publish online galleries, chapbooks, anthologies, and audio podcasts.

Poetic Matrix Press

If poets and lovers of poetry don't write, publish, read, and purchase poetry books then we will have no say in the quality of our contemporary culture and no excuse for the abuses of language, ideas, truth, beauty, and love in our cultural life.

Pond Road Press

We publish poetry chapbooks. Statement of purpose: To publish an eclectic range of poetry: formal verse, free verse, ultra talk, prose poetry, humorous, serious, humanistic, etc., and to thereby provide some recognition for our authors. Some chapbooks contain author interviews as a way to highlight the author. We like unusual, penetrating points of view on anything and everything. That said, we are not into nature poetry at the moment. We publish perfect bound, POD, digitally printed chapbooks only.

Press 53

Press 53 has earned a reputation for publishing quality poetry and short story collections. We publish 8-10 poetry collects and 8-10 short story collections each year, along with 2-3 anthologies, and reprints of 1-2 out-of-print classic novels.

Founded in January of 2006, Rose Metal Press is an independent, 501(c)(3) nonprofit publisher whose mission is to produce beautiful books in hybrid genres, by which we mean short short stories, prose poetry, flash nonfiction, novels-in-verse, book-length linked narrative poems, image and text collaborations and other literary works that move beyond the traditional genres of poetry, fiction, and essay to find new forms of expression.

Shabda Press

Shabda Press publishes one to two books of poetry a year. Our goal is to produce beautiful, high quality, well-designed poetry books. With that goal in mind and with our limited resources, we are putting our full attention into designing and publishing one to two exquisite books of poetry each year.

We invite submissions of full-length poetry manuscripts from 50 to 100 pages.

Sibling Rivalry Press

Founded in 2010, Sibling Rivalry Press is an independent publishing house based just outside of Little Rock, Arkansas, in the small town of Alexander. Our mission is to develop, promote, and market underground artistic talent—those who don’t quite fit into the mainstream. SRP is proud to be the home of Assaracus, the world’s only print journal of gay male poetry and one of Library Journal's Best New Magazines. Sixteen Rivers Press

Sixteen Rivers Press is a shared-work, nonprofit poetry collective dedicated to providing an alternative publishing avenue for San Francisco Bay Area poets. Founded in 1999 by seven writers, the press is named for the sixteen rivers that flow into the San Francisco Bay.

The Bitter Oleander Press

Our books represent the best of contemporary poetry published today in English and in translation. Even though our concentration is on contemporary poets in translation, we find some who have submitted work to our biannual journal for a lengthy period of time, to be the subject of a feature and then, if possible, a book of their work is considered for publication. We build on long-term relationships where the poetry meets our particular needs.

The Ledge Press

The Ledge Press publishes the winner of The Ledge Poetry Chapbook Competition, which is awarded annually for a collection of poems.

The National Poetry Review Press

TNPRP reads book submissions via the contest model, but we publish the winner as well as, typically, one or two runners-up. TNPRP's aesthetic is akin to that of The National Poetry Review magazine.
