Furniture Press Books

Furniture Press is a publisher of strangely poetical texts and ephemera, all which play at (but are not limited to) intertextuality and appropriation. Some want to call it poetry, but poetry can express many differing, sometimes conflicting and contradictory concepts. This is what we thrive on: the ambiguation of art and its likenesses. Our poetics follows this process closely, and we look for similar aesthetics in the writers we choose to publish and promote.

Shoe Music Press

Shoe Music Press publishes poetry chapbooks, in addition to three magazines: Mastodon Dentist, Nefarious Ballerina, and Penny Ante Feud. We admire accessible but unusual poetry that speaks to the human experience. We're not so much into political agendas or propagating social myths, like when a piece of writing assumes we think a certain way when we do not (e.g. global warming). We're interested in personal viewpoints mainly, poetry that tells a story in a lyrical and fascinating way.

Sibling Rivalry Press

Founded in 2010, Sibling Rivalry Press is an independent publishing house based just outside of Little Rock, Arkansas, in the small town of Alexander. Our mission is to develop, promote, and market underground artistic talent—those who don’t quite fit into the mainstream. SRP is proud to be the home of Assaracus, the world’s only print journal of gay male poetry and one of Library Journal's Best New Magazines. While we champion our LGBTIQ authors and artists, we are an inclusive publishing house and welcome all authors, artists, and readers regardless of sexual orientation or identity.

Six Ft. Swells Press publishes and celebrates After-Hours Poetry—a modern poetry movement known for its concise structure and unbridled confessional style in presenting the language and experiences of the everyperson. Common themes found in this genre are: taverns, music, cocktails, broken hearts, first kisses, Saturday nights out on the town, Sunday morning blues, road stories, parties and celebratory happenings…and the simple, unexpected moments that present themselves to the poet.
