The Low Residency MFA Program at Oregon State University Cascades seeks creative, innovative teacher-practitioners with significant professional accomplishment to serve as instructors on a term-by-term basis for the 2013/2014 Academic year. These are fixed-term appointments, with renewal at the discretion of the Dean. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Required qualifications are an MFA or other terminal degree in Creative Writing (or closely related field) and evident commitment to cultural diversity and educational equity. Preferred qualifications include teaching experience at the college or university level, experience with nontraditional, adult learners, and a demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
Mentors work long distance with one-four students per term, exchanging regularly scheduled packets of student work and responses to student work. Mentors are also required to be in residence in scenic Bend, Oregon for two biannual residencies. Duties will include: panel discussions, lectures, craft seminars, genre workshops, master classes, and a variety of formal and informal social activities.
