The Poetry Porch

The Poetry Porch is a magazine on the Internet for poets, teachers, and their students. First appearing online in 1997, it is only published on the Internet (so far). We are interested in original unpublished poems, essays, reviews, memoirs, and fiction, although we might republish work as a special posting for a featured poet. Besides an annual issue, often devoted to a theme, the site also updates on a regular basis the Sonnet Scroll, an unfurling electronic scroll of unpublished traditional and hybrid sonnets.

Prodigal

We curate each issue around a theme. While we use these to guide the overall shape of each issue and what it explores, we don't do so pedantically. And If you feel you have a piece that fits only obliquely with what we're 'consciously' asking for, we're still happy to read it.

Many of the authors are previously unpublished and most have been supported in their pursuit of writing through our memoir writing workshops.

Proximity | a quarterly collection of true stories

At Proximity, we’re curious about the shape-shifting nature of our proximity to one another. We believe that tangible connections—the kind that root us in a specific place, time, or culture—are living wells of fresh ideas. We hope the stories we publish will expand our readers’ views of the world while grounding readers in their own communities. We choose stories that encourage reflection, laughter, conversation, difficult-but-important questions, and, on occasion, a really good cry. Each theme-based issue pulls together personal and documentary storytelling, diverse in form and length.

r.kv.r.y. quarterly

We look for a story to tell us something universal about the human condition. Just because our theme is "recovery" doesn't mean that all of what we publish is about successful recovery. Often it's not the recovery story that says the most about the process of recovering. We like work that shows heart and depth of character.

Red Fez Publications

We obey no genre and take anything from limericks to fantasy to genres yet invented. Our key desires are originality, accessibility and quality. We like work with a point, something to say or some sort of inner majic that gives greater meaning to the pretty words and thrilling plots. That said, we're not really sure what we’re looking for until we've seen it, so give us a try. Published online monthly, Red Fez Publications features poetry and prose outside of the narrow, academic stream. Red Fez is committed to bringing light to underground and under-recognized writers and writing.
