San Pedro River Review

We prefer poetry and art set in tactile imagery, with a vividness of local detail: characters, places, substantive objects. We shy away from the overtly political or environmental. We like a degree of pathos, subtle drama, a touch of Lorca's 'duende' that loves "ledges and wounds," and a good use of metaphors and similes. We consider all forms of poetry, including prose poems.

scissors & spackle

We believe that words in their purest form, both cut and repair, sometimes simultaneously. We are not interested in resumes or pedigrees. We care about words, and the worlds that can be constructed with them.

scissors and spackle

Words in their purest form both cut and repair, sometimes simultaneously. We believe that words have not been given the credit they are due often enough. Scissors and spackle wants to slip back into the power of words and is searching for artists who string them together in ways that make us remember. We are not concerned with what box or title an artist's work fits into, or how many words it takes them to get there. We are only interested in the destination. We are interested in fiction without boundaries.
