The Tusculum Review

We want writing that takes risks while still paying attention to craft. We are happy to see prose poems, stories that burst into poems, poems that burst into stories, etc. Mixing genres doesn’t scare us. Of course boring, self-involved, over-inflated pap turns us off. We publish poems, fiction, nonfiction, and plays.

Unsplendid

Our journal is soley interested in poetry in received forms (e.g. sonnets, triolets, terza rima, pantoums, sestinas) and nonce forms (those invented for the poem). We publish original texts, translations, reviews, and essays. We view this venture not as a partisan-like imposition of a particular aesthetic, but as establishing something akin to the radio station that "listeners" will turn to when they are in the mood to "hear" top-notch poetry written in meter and traditional or nonce forms.
