Avatar Review

We publish poetry, short fiction, essays, visual art and prose poems. We look first for the finely crafted piece and believe in Pound’s dictum, “Fundamental accuracy of statement is the sole morality of writing.” We’re open to all forms, but have a bias toward clear, concise, understandable work that communicates, surprises or disturbs-writing that bears witness to the world we live in.

Away

We are looking for non-fiction writing and photo essays about travel, broadly conceived. We are especially interested in pieces by writers and artists who are aware of the complicated space that writing about travel occupies. We do not shy away from the memoiristic or experimental.

The Axe Factory

The Axe Factory is a quarterly online literary journal that publishes contemporary poetry, prose, and visual art in any 2D medium. Each issue of "The Axe Factory" is curated like a gallery exhibition--drawing together pieces in various styles and media that complement and offset each other. We do not predetermine the "theme" but rather arrive at a collection over time. Each year the magazine chooses an artist to showcase; he/she will work with the editorial staff to create four covers for four issues.
