Canteen

Canteen magazine admires what writers and artists do, and we want insight into how and why it’s done. We publish fiction, poetry, and essays that examine the creative processes of writers, artists, chefs, wine critics, and even a CIA agent.

The Cape Rock

No restrictions on subjects or forms in this 50-year-old publication, but we prefer poems under 75 lines. Our criterion for selection is the quality of the work. No sentimental, didactic, or "cute" poems.

Carcinogenic Poetry

Carcinogenic Poetry accepts a variety of types and styles of poetry. CP endeavors to present as many voices from the literary independent and underground, both new and established. Carcinogenic Poetry is not a poetry blog about cancer, but rather takes the stance, 'the truth is to lies like cancer;' that is to say, poetry that rings with the truth of a poet sheds light on the darkness of the soul. Sometimes that truth is beautiful; sometimes that truth is bleak. The aim of Carcinogenic Poetry is to capture the full-range of tones by which these truths are delivered.

Cardinal Sins

Our focus is on anything that moves us. We desire well-written poetry, flash fiction, fiction, and creative non-fiction that has a brain and a heart. We are not looking for dripping over-sentimentality. But often, even in the most high-brow of works, there is an identifiable pulse of energy and emotion. Cardinal Sins is not beholden by any specific aesthetic. Our only litmus test is that the work is good. Cardinal Sins is trying to push the boundaries of traditional lit mags. We are producing an audio version of our journal and will be placing the journal on the Kindle and Nook stores.
